Liv With Roz Lemongrass Soap

Ahh, the smell of lemongrass! It’s so lovely. Calms my senses and soothes my soul. From slurping it down in soup to burning it in incense, I love the citrusy, woodsy scent. So when I receive a bar of Liv with Roz’s lemongrass soap, I had high expectations. They were met, and exceeded. It’s an absolutely delicious smelling bar that gets me stoked to wash my hands, or head to the shower.

There’s a lovey handmade look to the bar, which is just as it should be, as it’s an artisanal, handmade soap. There’s goat-milk here for skin that needs soothing (and what skin doesn’t like to be soothed?), and in fact on the shop’s homepage you can see several of the goats that add their personal touches to each bar. I like to think a few of them added to my own piece. I like goats and I cannot lie. This bar has coconut oil as an additional moisturizer, though I don’t smell the coconut. That’s fine either way; I love both scents, but the fact that this particular bar dials the lemongrass to eleven is absolutely perfect for me.

How’s it lather? Easily. It works into a nice medium-grade lather, not too sudsy but with staying power that lasts through a whole body pouf scrubbing. Sure, I had to rub the soap around the pouf a bit, but that’s to be expected. And even though I’ve used this bar for a few weeks now, I barely notice any indent in the bar from my scrubbing. So add long-lasting to my list of superlatives. The lemongrass literally blooms as I scrubbed the bar, and though the suds smelled divine, there wasn’t an overpowering perfumy scent lingering on my skin. While I enjoy a good noseful in the shower (or while hand-washing), I don’t want to be constantly reminded as a scent overstays its welcome. That’s not the case here, thank goodness.

The bar has lard and tallow, so folks who are trying to avoid animal products should be away that there are animal fats here. Lye is also an ingredient, for folks with contact dermatitis issues. This bar’s a pity to miss, but I understand that some folks may have issues with some ingredients.

But for the rest of us? Oh wow this soap is fantastic. It’s not often a body wash and hand gel gal like myself gets stoked over bar soap. But stoked I am. So stoked I’m typing like Yoda. That’s the biggest compliment I can give. See this out, you should.
