Folkmanis’ Mouse in Pumpkin Puppet

All hail the spice!  Pumpkin everything is the rule of the day this time of year, and I’m all for it. Give me my pumpkin donuts, pumpkin pies, spicy roasted pumpkin, and pumpkin crumble. And okay, a PSL or two while we’re at it, though I’m more a Chestnut Praline Latte gal myself. So when Folkmanis decided to indulge my love of the orange squash, my grabby hands eagerly shot out. And I’ve been snuggling with this adorable puppet ever since.

My mouse looks perpetually shocked, which I kinda love. It’s most likely due to a larger plastic iris than what seems to be used in the Folkmanis website stock photo. My little guy is also a bit…thinner than in the pic? And that’s okay too. He’s got a personality all his own, and he’s able to move around nicely once my finger assumes the position. As I’m not the most dexterous person in the world, all I’ve been able to make him do is move up and down. But that’s enough to get him to jam to Thriller, so I’m happy.

Yes, when I stick my finger into the puppet to get my little mouse to move, it looks like I’ve brought puppet stranger danger to life. It’s the kind of thing children won’t notice, but adults will giggle at. (Well, at the adults I like to hang out with will, at any rate.) But Pumpkin is great for anyone to just cuddle with, as it’s soft, velvety, and easily malleable. It’s also great for popping into your pocket and pulling out for Halloween show-and-tell, a kind of Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater riff. The puppet is the usual high-quality Folkmanis is known for, so the stitching isn’t going to unravel from being handled repeatedly.

When I’m not finding reasons to pick this puppet up to touch the fuzzy, I keep it by the front door for seasonal decor. It’ll stay there through Thanksgiving, as it’s not spooky item, but more a seasonal one. Happy pumpkin season, everyone!
