Village Bakery’s Mini Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

So you thought all the pumpkin things went away after Halloween? Oh my sweet summer child. Have you forgotten that Fall is decorative gourd season? And with gourds come…wait for it…pumpkin. We’re not even close to maximum ‘kin y’all. Buckle up and I’ll tell you about pumpkin cupcakes so delicious my friend told me to never buy them again, because they were way too dangerously good. Yes, supermarket brand cupcakes so good my friends threaten my life. But it’s true.

This twelve pack of goodness holds teeny cupcakes just big enough for a couple of bites. The frosting has a nice cream cheese taste, yet it’s so light and fluffy it’s almost like whipped cream. The pumpkin swirl on top of said frosting adds a touch of seasonal flavor, but it’s the cake itself that’s the star. Nicely spiced with pumpkin pie spices we all know and love – most especially notes of nutmeg, cinnamon and a very light touch of clove – they pack a tasty punch. And, as with the frosting, the cakes are light and airy, with a moistness that surprised me. Y’know, because supermarket brand. I could have easily popped an entire mini-cupcake into my gaping maw, but I decided to be classy. After all, I was surrounded by friends that I didn’t want to gross out. But as we dove in, etiquette flew out the window. It was glorious.

As this is a seasonal entry in Aldi’s stash, I’m betting that once they’re gone, they’re gone. So go find some. Maybe try my local store, as I’m no longer allowed to buy ‘em.
